Jax Taylor's new LA sports bar is FLOODED with negative reviews (2024)

Jax Taylor's new Los Angeles-based sports bar is being flooded with negative Yelp reviews as patrons blast the 'barely edible' food and 'terrible service.'

Jax's Studio City, which is located on famousVentura Blvd, opened in October 2023 and the lead up to opening day was documented on Bravo's The Valley.

The Vanderpump Rules alum, 44, co-owns the bar with his estranged wife Brittany Cartwright, 35, as well as a handful of investors whom he claims footed the bill.

Although it boasts a four out of five star Yelp rating, Jax's Studio City's latest reviews suggest that the bar is missing the mark with some locals and VPR fans.

There are complaints about 'rude' waitstaff, 'long waits' for food and a lack of ambience, with one Yelp reviewer describing the restaurant's inside as a 'doom and gloom dungeon.'

DailyMail.com has reached out to reps for Taylor for comment.

'terrible service. waited over 2 hours for food. never got it but all the sections did. didn't even receive an apology for the terrible service,' penned one customer, who left a one-star review.

Another wrote: 'absolutely everything sucked. from food to staff to space to owner. i will never be returning.'

One patron claimed that the servers were 'inattentive and forgetful' while another said the bartenders 'never acknowledged' them after they took their seats in the inside dining area.

The menu — which features dishes and co*cktails inspired by the Vanderpump Rules stars, including Brittany's Mamaw's famous 'Beer Cheese' — also failed to meet some patrons' expectations.

One Yelp reviewer bluntly stated that 'the food was barely edible besides the pretzel' and they warned others to 'stay away from the sliders, the beer cheese or the nacho cheese.' On a positive note, they did praise the bar for their 'decent' wine pours.

Another point of contention appears to be the bar's operating hours as one patron complained that it is 'difficult to predict when they'll be open.'

'I have tried to go here 4 times and they are never open. Or it will say they open at 8pm and when we show up for a drink, they are closed. It's strange,' the reviewer claimed.

On the Jax's Studio City website, it says the bar is opened Monday through Friday at 5PM and at 12PM on weekends.

A closing time is not listed but bars in Los Angeles cannot legally sell alcohol after 2AM.

Despite a recent influx of one-star reviews,Jax's Studio City boasts an impressive 4 out of 5 star rating on Yelp.

'Great food, great vibe and strong co*cktails just the way it should be,' one customer lauded, while awarding a five-star rating.

Many self-professed Vanderpump Rules superfans, who visited the spot in the hopes of catching a glimpse of Taylor or Cartwright, wrote that they 'highly recommend'Jax's Studio City to those looking for 'great, food, drinks and service.'

Many of the positive reviews called out individual servers, whose 'sweet and friendly' demeanors 'added to [their] experience.'

A fan who ventured from San Francisco to Studio City to watch The Valley finale at the bar on Tuesday night gushed that the menu offers 'large portions' for the price and that the staff was 'friendly.'

Another pleased out-of-towner gushed: 'This whole staff was so accommodating and friendly! Came back twice in one day on vacation and will come back again!!!!!! Ambiance was amazing!!! FOOD WAS AMAZING!!!!'

The mixed reviews for Jax's Studio City comes after The U.S. Sunreported that the bar was being investigated by the health department after a video that appeared to show Taylor and Cartwright changing their son Cruz's, three, diaper on the bar's 'food prep area' went viral in April.

But the inspector quickly closed the investigation after finding no evidence of the 'complaint.' No further action was taken against the bar.

'No one in the facility was changing diapers in the bar at the time of the inspection. Discussed with owner that employees and customers are not allowed to change baby diapers in the bar counter or on tables,' the inspector wrote of the April 16 investigation.

'It is the owner's responsibility to enforce this. Owner demonstrated understanding.'

Back in February, Taylor and his now-estranged wife Brittany Cartwright announced that they were separating after four years of marriage and nine years together.

But Taylor is now claiming that he and Cartwrightare trying to mend their relationship.

On Wednesday, Taylor, took to X (formerly Twitter) to respond to a fan asking if he and Cartwright, 35, are 'back together.'

'we are working things out.. what you saw was filmed months ago…' tweetedTaylor, who was referring to footage shown on The Valley finale that aired the night prior.

In the finale episode of Bravo's The Valley, the couple discussed their shock split and Cartwright suggested that a divorce wasn't out of the question.

Taylor's latest claim came hours after he accused Cartwrightof 'sleeping with' someone else amid their separation in a now-deleted tweet.

He posted the tweet on Wednesday morning, days after revealing the two areopen to 'dating other people.'

'You may want to ask Brittany who she's been sleeping with for the past 4 months....' Jax wrote on his Twitteraccount, before quickly deleting the post.

Hours later Jax — who recently stepped out with model Paige Woolen for a lunch date — returned to Twitter to share a snap of their 3-year-old son Cruz sleeping in bed with what appeared to beBrittany next to him.

One confused fan commented: 'Is that what the "ask her who she's been sleeping with for the past 4 months" meant?'

Others assumed Jax meant his deleted post as a joke, writing, 'Now we know who’s she' been sleeping with.'

'Is it you who Brit was sleeping with... or Cruz?' another wondered.

'I saw you posting last night about Brittany dating someone for the last 4 months,'someone else wrote.

'Why’d you delete your post?'

'We all know why you posted this.....you wanted us to start buzzing about Brittany in the bed...your embarrassingly predictable Jax,' another person chimed in.

Cartwright announced the pair's separation after almost five years of marriage.

In April, Cartwright shared that her 'sexless marriage' with Jax made her hit her 'breaking point' and admitted they've discussed dating other people amid separation, saying 'I don't want to be unhappy for the rest of my life.'

In an interview with Us Weekly, the Vanderpump Rules alum said that her and Taylor's sex life had 'dwindled so much' in recent years and that it began to affect her self esteem.

'I felt like I wasn't good enough. If you start to feel like your partner doesn't want you and they're also being mean to you, it's like, "What am I doing here?" I'm basically living with a roommate. I hit my breaking point,' she explained.

'I don't want to be unhappy for the rest of my life. I don't want to be in a sexless marriage for the rest of my life. I don't want to be arguing with my husband for the rest of my life.'

When she tried to speak to Taylor about their lack of sex, Cartwright claimed that he would tell her was '44 and I'm tired' — an answer that didn't suffice for her.

Earlier this week Jax denied he is dating anyone amid his separation from Brittany, after sparking romance rumors with model Paige.

On Friday's episode of his and Cartwright's When Reality Hits podcast, the reality star revealed he and his spouse are, still, 'trying to exhaust everything' before considering divorcing.

'I am not — I repeat not — dating anybody. I was seen out with someone and it was strictly lunch. Obviously, Brittany and I are separated and have been for a long time. What we are going through right now is tough. Marriage is not easy,' he explained.

The bar owner continued: 'We are trying to figure out a lot of different things: therapy, separation, and maybe, possibly, dating other people.'

The father-of-one said some of the 'different things' they are trying to salvage their relationship are 'therapy, separation, and maybe, possibly, dating other people.'

'We are trying to exhaust everything before we have to go down the divorce road — if that would be the case,' he told listeners. 'Part of taking some time apart means exploring other people. All marriages are different, but this is what is good for our marriage.'

Taylor said he and Cartwright 'are on the same page' about their current arrangement and 'have a couple of rules with it, but this is what we are exploring.'

Ultimately, the 'most important thing' to the pair is their son, Cruz, who turned three last month.

Taylor also claimed his estranged wife is also 'doing her own thing, too.'
