Star Coins

Star Coin 1: The first Star Coin is floating above the Bill Blaster path. Star Coin 2: Near the start of the rainbow line in the second area, there is a secret pipe behind the blocks that leads to a bonus area, where the Star Coin can be obtained by using the arrow lift and the POW Block.

Collecting all Star Coins in a world will unlock a level in World 9 (unlocked after beating the final boss). It will be the level number corresponding to the world number (e.g. collecting the Star Coins in World 1 will unlock 9-1).

Star Coins

Collect as many as you can to unlock Mushroom Houses, Secret Levels and Star World levels. Collect all of the star coins to unlock a star house in the star world that grants you a star when you visit it.

Almost every level in each game contains three, most games typically have over 200 Star Coins in all, and they are usuallyused to open up paths on the world map and to buy Touch Screen background images later on in the game however in some cases, Star Coins are also used to unlock secret levels.

Speed Boosts

For each coin you collect you get a very, very tiny speed boost -- even after you've collected the maximum of 10 coins. So keep collecting them!

For Mario Galaxy's original release, players who 100% completed the game were given photos that went to your Wii message board and you could also send them to friends. But now in the All-Stars package, these photos are sent to your screenshot gallery.

You cannot earn Star Coins in-game. If you have a Star Rider subscription that includes Star Coins allowance, you can receive Star Coins every Friday and additional Star Coins can be purchased from our website. You can also purchase Star Coins from our apps; Star Stable Horses, and Star Stable Online on mobile.

If you find all the coins in a world you'll unlock a special level in World 9. See our Secrets section for more on World 9. Additionally, these coins can be spent on hint movies in Princess Toadstool's Castle in World 1.

If the player collects all three Star Coins in a level, applause can be heard. There are 231 Star Coins in total; collecting all Star Coins in a world will unlock a level in World 9 corresponding to that world number's (e.g. collecting all the Star Coins in World 1 will unlock 9-1).

As with other Ghost Houses, finding the last Star Coin will lead you right to the Secret Exit. After clearing the top floors of the house, go back to the middle floor, and use the trampoline on the far left to jump up and find a secret door. Go through the next area to find a path to the Secret Exit.
