      May cruises cancelled today

      in Royal Caribbean Discussion

      Posted March 9, 2021

I still think we need 3 months from when the lines finally get CDC blessing to start test cruises until any revenue cruising starts.

So IMO June cruises are still firmly in the crosshairs

Wrong Cruise Line, but still a good sign?

in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors

      Posted March 9, 2021

Does RC pay for the transportation to/from the employees' home countries before and after a contract?

Could be a challenge to get the crew to ships if they have to pay their own way after a year with no income.

      Test Cruises

I think employees families would be the first target test cruiser.

I can't see too many employee families willing or able to fly half way across the globe for a test cruise.

I would think it'd be high ranking C&As as well as top travel agents and other market VIPs. I think the open registration for test cruises was nothing but a nice PR stunt.

EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!! Fully-vaccinated people can gather without masks, CDC says !!!

It will depend in no small part on the other pieces of the supply chain ramping up equally -- supplies of syringes, alcohol swabs, and all the other pieces needed to actually administer a vaccination also have to be available in the same quantity. If those fall short, vaccinations will lag vs if we have all the pieces at the same supply level.

Vaccines that would be available by the end of May would have just recently started their manufacturing process or are about to. So it shouldn't take too long for the companies to hit their roadblocks.

Ah, I see what you mean.

Though I've seen a couple different articles with varying details about the whos and wheres. Other articles said they tested positive onboard after conveyance began, but that could have been something lost in the google translation

Is it really a sign of a restart? Or just some good marketing to keep NCL in the public's eyes in the mean time?

We're at the lowest positivity rate we've had since day 1. The variants they have us afraid of didn't even last long in the UK or South Africa.

I will still wear my mask at gatherings as the CDC also claims that even if you had COVID and/or received the vaccination, you can be a carrier.

So what’s the deal with May cruises?

in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors

      Posted March 7, 2021

If RC got desperate, they could probably pull off one ship based in Cozumel, much like Grandeur in Barbados. But that's about it. But that'd still require some makeshift terminal as there is no traditional cargo dock in Cozumel that I'm aware of.
