Investigators of the Louisiana State ire Office respond ed to a residential struc ture fire that claimed the life of a Pineville man early Saturday morning According to a release issued by ire Marshal's Office authorities the Pineville ire Department was dispatched to 930 Main Street just before 4 am where firefighters found flames emanating from a wood frame quad plex apartment structure Because of the probability that at least one resident may have been in the structure at the time the services of State ire Marshal investigators were requested stated authories Shortly after the arrival of investigators ire Marshal officials stated firefighters discovered the body of resident Roliert Rivers 68 in the charred ruins Rivers lived in one of die in the northwest quadrant of the structure wliich was effec tively destroyed by the fire officials stated adding after being thor oughly examined by inves tigators body was later released to the Rapides Parish Coroner for autopsy In addition officials stated family members informed investigators that Rivers who was physically handicapped had Ix en battling illness for a prolonged period of time Initial findings by investigators indicate the fire originated in the south end of the structure between two of the units one of which was vacant at the time of the fire according to authorities Investigators are still in the process
